The All Gauge Model Railway Club was founded in 1973 and became an Incorporated Association in 1991.
The AGMRC is a group of ordinary people who like to get together to chat about trains and to run their trains on the club’s layouts, which are generally much bigger than most people can own or afford the space for. The All Gauge Model Railway Club exists to provide a safe and inclusive environment for the community to engage in railroad modelling, model landscaping, mechanical and electrical engineering, and other related crafts. Our organisation is a great example of one which keeps an “old-school” craft alive, and this is a phenomenon being rediscovered and becoming increasingly popular in our modern world.
Our former home at the Clem Jones Centre, Carina was unfortunately demolished in December 2017 to make way for a carpark, but we have moved on. Our (temporary) clubhouse is at Yeerongpilly (click the Location menu option above) whilst our new permanent home is being developed at the forthcoming Yeronga Community Centre. Our public events program remains in full swing, with table sales and open days a regular occurrence – details are always on our home page. Youngsters love the sights and sounds of the model trains, and new families join to share in the group’s social benefits. We are also part of the Australian Model Railroad Association (AMRA); contributing to and participating annually at its show at the Brisbane Exhibition Grounds.
The reach of our club’s influence goes well beyond our ‘home base’. In 2017 our website had over 15,000 hits from nearly 7,500 visitors. It is the most active club website in our region, and one of the most active in the country. Furthermore we have hosted numerous delegations from interstate and overseas. So you can see it’s so much more than just a ‘model train club’.
Thank you for your interest in our club.
